A few days ago we talked about the dangers of the internet with the case of Bizum scams. As you know, at ActualApp we write articles about major news but we also offer security advice. Today we want to focus on an online selling platform that is very trendy, and that is why we set out to make an article of the various opinions about Temu that we have collected.
In recent years various e-commerce platforms have appeared that have become really popular, especially among young people. Their outrageously low prices and their really tempting promotions are the main draws of these kinds of stores.
What is Temu? Is it the new AliExpress?
The answer is clearly yes, or at least it is a very serious competitor to AliExpress. Temu is, like Shein or Wish, a mega online store with millions of products at very affordable prices. Most of its products come from China but there is no problem buying on Temu from Spain or any other country.
Temu does not focus on just one type of product; rather, like Amazon for example, you can find technology, clothing, household utensils and hundreds more product categories. It is impossible to see the entirety of its catalog. You can access the platform through its website or by installing its app, both on Android and iOS. Here are the links:

Real user opinions about Temu
The content you will find on ActualApp is always original, written by humans and based on real people’s opinions. We have done a small field work analyzing through Twitter, Instagram and also our own circles and we have created a section of opinions about Temu. We will basically talk about three positive aspects and three negatives.
Positive points: price, catalog and functionality
The first thing all users highlight is its incredible prices. It makes no sense that you can buy 20 products and the total price is 60 or 70 euros. It’s truly amazing. But also, every so often they run offers that save you even more money or allow you to buy products for 60 cents. It’s the big secret of these platforms and Temu delivers, very well.
The second aspect, and we’ve already mentioned it before, is its great variety of products. I’ll tell you a secret that will serve as an example: in the last joint order we made in the office there were swimsuits, Apple Watch straps, iPhone cases, a decorative picture, some very ugly coasters that will never be used and sweatpants that fit the product model much better than they fit me. It’s spectacular.
Finally, the last positive aspect is the ease of interaction with the platform. Both the website and the apps work really well. You can tell there is a good development team and this translates into a really good user experience. Also, it is completely safe to enter your cards and make purchases because they comply with all security standards. A small plus for Temu.
Negative points: iffy quality, delayed shipping and customer service could improve
Not everything was going to be good. What affects most at times, although there are exceptions, is the fairly mediocre quality of many products. We suppose it is the other side of the coin of having such low prices. After you place some orders you will know which products to order and which not to. Sports clothes? Yes. Clothes for a wedding? Risky. The same happens with technology. Peripherals and accessories are very good; more expensive products, we do not recommend buying them from these Chinese stores.
The second point we rate as negative is shipping times. They are very long. Although it is true that we say they are long because we compare them to Amazon. In the end not paying, or paying very little, for shipping to bring an iPhone case from Shanghai to Barcelona is crazy. But it is true, on occasions we have had to wait weeks for products to arrive.
Finally, some users have told us that when they had problems with a product it was not easy to contact customer service. Responses were not fast, nor effective in some cases.
In summary: Is it reliable to buy on Temu?
Absolutely yes. We have already said that it is a secure store and that it also delivers what it promises. The summary is that buying such cheap products makes it worth that the quality is sometimes mediocre and that shipments arrive a bit late. After reading and consulting many opinions about Temu this is the prevailing feeling.
There are other topics that are also important and that we have not talked about, such as the doubts that buying from the other side of the world raises in terms of the environment. But we’ll leave that for another article where we will talk about the circular economy and short distribution circuits. Long live Temu!
