Choosing between the iPhone 18 Pro and the Google Pixel 11 Pro is less about counting cameras and more about deciding what you expect from a high-end phone. According to information gathered by Gadget Hacks, the Pixel stands out for its zoom, its already tested artificial intelligence tools and its lower price, while the iPhone offers more photographic control and professional video features.
The comparison has one limitation: the Pixel has been on sale since 20 August, but the iPhone will reach stores on 18 September. As a result, not all of Apple’s promises have yet been backed by equivalent independent testing.
Price and artificial intelligence: advantage Pixel
Both start from a similar base, with 6.3-inch OLED displays, adaptive refresh rates of up to 120 Hz, three rear cameras and 256 GB of starting storage. In the dollar prices cited by the source, the Pixel 11 Pro starts at $1,099 and the iPhone 18 Pro at $1,199; those figures do not determine how much they will cost in Spain or other local markets.
Google offers configurations of up to 1 TB, compared with Apple’s 2 TB, a difference that is especially relevant for anyone who stores a lot of video files. Brightness calls for more caution: the 3,600-nit peak announced for the Pixel and the iPhone’s 3,000 nits outdoors refer to different conditions, so they cannot be used to declare a winner in sunlight.
Where Google presents more verifiable arguments is in AI. Rambler turns disorganised spoken input into clearer text, while Magic Capture analyses a short recording to extract photos from the right moment. According to The Verge tests cited by the source, both features proved useful, although Proactive Assistance behaved inconsistently. Having more AI on the spec sheet does not necessarily mean less work for the user.
Apple responds with Siri AI, rolled out in beta with iOS 27, which can use information from messages, emails, photos and on-screen content to answer questions and carry out actions. Its availability depends on language and region, and it still needs more real-world evaluation; if you are buying specifically for these features, the Pixel offers a more proven foundation.
Cameras and video: getting closer or having more control

The Pixel 11 Pro combines a 50 MP main sensor, a 48 MP ultra-wide and a 48 MP telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom. The Tom’s Guide tests cited by Gadget Hacks highlighted both the sharpness of the telephoto lens and the effectiveness of the AI-assisted mode at greater distances.
The iPhone includes three 48 MP rear cameras, with a 4x telephoto lens, an 8x option that Apple describes as “optical quality” and digital zoom of up to 40x. Its most distinctive feature is the variable aperture on the main camera, which lets you choose between f/1.48, f/1.8, f/2.8 and f/4.0, as well as adjust shutter speed and white balance. Here, the appeal lies in deciding how light enters the shot, not only in letting processing solve the scene.
For video, Apple announces 4K Dolby Vision recording at up to 120 fps with the main camera, ProRes RAW, Apple Log 2, external recording and genlock. These are tools aimed at workflows involving colour grading, external storage or multiple cameras, not requirements for sharing an everyday clip. The iPhone has a more complete professional proposition, although the overall photographic quality of both phones still needs a direct comparison under equivalent conditions.
Performance, battery life and buying decision
The A20 Pro looks set to be another iPhone argument for gaming and demanding tasks, but it is worth separating expectations from results. Apple claims its seven-core GPU is up to 40% faster than the A19 Pro’s and announces sustained performance improvements of up to 40% thanks to a redesigned vapour chamber. These are comparisons with the previous generation, not measured victories over the Pixel.
The Tensor G6 fits Google’s focus on AI and computational photography. The independent tests cited point to improvements over its predecessor, although it still trails other high-end phones in raw power. For messaging, browsing and everyday apps, that difference matters less than it does in intensive workloads.
Battery life still does not allow for a firm verdict: Google announces more than 30 hours of use, while Apple uses estimates that vary depending on activity and configuration. There are also not enough tests of the retail iPhone to compare them rigorously. For wired charging, Apple promises 50% in around 15 minutes and Google up to 55% in around 30 minutes, always with compatible chargers.
The choice is fairly clear: Pixel 11 Pro if you prioritise proven AI, zoom and a lower starting price; iPhone 18 Pro if you want manual control and advanced video, with favourable expectations for performance. If the deciding factor is how long the battery lasts or which one takes better photos overall, waiting for comparable tests is more sensible than buying based on the spec sheet.
